The “Frozen mantle” wins third place in a prestigious landscape photography contest organised by Manfrotto Bulgaria. The topic of the contest called Manfrotto Off Road was “Winter scenes”. In the contest took part some of the most active landscape photographers in Bulgaria who submitted hundreds of images. This is my first award for a landscape photograph after I won the first place in a wildlife photography contest organised by the CEE Web.
I took this picture of Mount Kazbegi with Trinity church from the village of Stepandsminda in Georgia. The weather during the day was very cloudy and the peak was not visible. It was a bit of disappointment but the forecast for the evening was suggesting bright sky and I was often looking at the peak from the window of the guest house where i stayed. At one such occasion i saw this scene. Immediately dressed up and went out where temperature was around 0º degrees celsius to take a few pictures. It was a memorable experience! The Caucases are mountains that i have always wanted to see and here i was looking at the peak. This was a dream come true!
