Backlight sand pyramids near Melnik

Melnik pyramids are not far from where I live, but it has been some time since I last wrote here but here am I back again. I used the time during the Christmas holidays to visit some of my favourite areas.

Melnik pyramids

Melnik pyramids are situated in the South-Western Part of the country formed by changing climates. The total area of the pyramids is 17 km2. Being at the foot of the Pirin mountains and on the border with the Mediterranean climate zone the area offers a range of habitats and landscapes.

Because of the mild climate, the area is rather suitable for wine production and is currently one of the most famous wine regions in the country. Historically the wine production in the region dates from 1346 and nowadays there is a special type of wine grown in the area.

See more about the area here.
