In the last couple of weeks I attempt new techniques and new objects for photography. I have been thinking about photographing mammals but never done it. Well it was time to try. A colleague told me about a site not far from Sofia where quite a few animals roam: Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Wild Boar, amongst others. After postponing the trip for various reasons I finally managed to do it.
My main idea was to photograph a male Red Deer but it isn’t that easy. After a few unsuccessful attempts I sat in a hide where animals were supposed to come. So they did. Upon arrival I spread a little bit of bait and banged the food container which was their sign that food will be served. It didn’t take long for the first three male Fallow Deers to come. Unfortunately they passed aside of my hide and could take their pictures. After them a few female Red Deers came over with little caution about any potential photographer sitting in the hide. They stayed anxious for some time but then started feeding. A young Fallow deer followed them staying for 10 min or so. Some silence followed when I noticed a male Fallow Deer passing by the hide heading straight towards the bait. It was absolutely superb. Its fur looked really soft. Never been this close to these majestic animals at this time of the year. Here are some of the pictures I took:
I have to thank you for the efforts you’ve put in penning this site. I am hoping to see the same high-grade blog posts by you later on as well. In truth, your creative writing abilities has encouraged me to get my very own website now
