The morning of day 3 looked quite dark and wet. The forecast was for a rainy morning so we decided to stay around the cars. One of the easiest birding we could do is visit Ivaylovgrad reservoir where we added a few new birds to the trip list. We had great views of Ruddy Shelduck, Black-headed Yellow Wagtails, White Storks, Black Tern and Whiskered Tern, Greenshank, Black Stork and very distant Black Kites. We spent a good two hours on the spot and got very cold. Thus, we decided to head to Madzharovo and warm up in the visitor centre of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds.
The afternoon was very quiet as the weather didn’t allow us to explore the area much. Eventhough, we drove to a nearby village where we saw the Egyptian Vulture, Eastern Bonneli’s Warbler, Whinchat and Skylark.
Day 4
The last day of our trip was very exciting. We had a few goodies to come. We started off with the area of Mezek where our highlights were Sardinian Warbler and Lesser spotted Eagle. After lunch in Mezek, we visited a rehabilitation centre for Lesser Kestrel where we had great views of the Eastern Imperial Eagle.
Thus our trip came to an end.
