You couldn’t ask for a better guide. I would recommend to anyone wanting a birdwatching trip to book him, he is also a really really nice person. To sum up I can’t think of a better guide than Dancho his birdwatching skills are simply excellent-second to none. Alex K2025-03-01Verified Amazing experience Huge thank you to Iordan for his excellent work, he made our trip very memorable. We planned a 4 day trip in the Rhodope Mountains to photograph a traditional custom. Iordan’s careful planning before the trip ensured a really seamless and brilliant experience.During the trip Iordan handled logistics and our itinerary exceptionally, and we simply couldn’t have had such a great trip without him. Iordan’s knowledge and approach is really admirable, and I highly recommend planning trips with him. I certainly will be planning another adventure with him someday! Neil C2025-02-28Verified Bird Photography I really wanted to photograph the Nutcrackers as I had missed them previously in Scandinavia. As always you never know what to expect, but with the help of Lordan's guidance I was not disappointed, and had about ten birds for two hours or so at close range in the snow. Lordan's local knowledge of the area and of the various species of birds meant I got to see much more than I would of otherwise. It was my first time in Bulgaria and I hope to return. A big thankyou to Lordan. Lynda C2025-02-10Verified Life at Lake Kerkini Lake Kerkini with the pelicans was amazing and able to get close and see the different personalities of the birds. Great to having several days and of course the different light to capture them. pselzer2024-12-04Verified Birding in and around Sofia in mid-November This was a great day of birding in and around Sofia in mid-November. I highly recommend Lordan Hristov as a guide. He definately knows where to find the birds. There were two of us on this private tour. I am a casual mid-level birder who enjoys photographing birds and seeing new species. I use a 300mm lens and have attached some of the photos I was able to get during our trip. My companion was not a birder, but came along for the natural beauty of the area. Lordan provided an extra pair of binoculars for her. She also enjoyed the day.Lordan arrived to pick us up at our hotel on time, in a very clean vehicle, and drove safely and professionally. He offered us several choices for the day trip including city parks, mountain forests, and wetlands. We opted for city parks, an owl roost, and wetlands and visited 2 parks and 2 lake spots within a village, the owl roost, a marsh area and several stops along the road as he spotted birds in the nearby fields. I was able to get good photographs of about 20 species new to me and we spotted about 20+ other species. One of the highlights of the day was the long-eared owls. He took us to a roost where there were probably 40 or more owls. Very cool day and would definitely recommend this tour. 4512ptj2024-09-29Verified Bulgaria: an extraordinary country for birds and environment Comments based upon a 10-day birding trip through many parts of Bulgaria and for comparative purposes, rely on birding trip experiences over 30+ years on 5 continents: the only time we had available matched fall migration and Iordan created the itinerary to enable maximum opportunity to witness key migration sites along with ones for resident species. He's a master ornithologist, knowledgable in calls, flight patterns, colors, and behaviors, always cautious to definitively identify a specie if doubts about physical or audio evidence. Much success comes from his familiarity with dirt tracks, narrow mountain roads, and marshes to find areas with specific birds. He's the best guide in my experience, always striving to ensure we saw the bird and would in subsequent days also call it to aid in our memory retention. Choice of lodgings and restaurants was fine, and as important, he's a careful driver on all types of roads. In sum, a splendid experience to see birds not in Western Europe while exploring a beautiful, ecologically complex country welcoming to foreign visitors. Gerhard72024-06-21Verified Birding Burgas I contacted Iordan though WhatsApp +359 88 840 9907 and arranged a date to ho birding with him when I was visiting in the area .He turned up on time to collect me and we spend 10 hours in the area birding at 7 different locations to see a variety of 103 different species. I could never have achieved this without his expertise. His knowledge in birds and finding them is second to none. I got to see Dalmatian pelicans and quite a few other unexpected lifers. GrandTour215128725842024-06-04Verified Great birding trip in Bulgaria We had tremendeous 10 birding days throughout beautiful and scenic Bulgarian nature. Some birds were hard to find but with Iordans hard work and dedication we managed to see them. We stopped many times daily in different habitats and saw many different birds and other critters and flowers. We were travelling cosily and had super fun in the van and on the field. Iordan is relaxed person and experienced birder, and extremely safe driver. Thank you Iordan, see you! Alan1082024-06-01Verified Wonderful hosted trip to Lesvos with a fantastically knowledgable and skilled birder. Fabulous hosted trip to LesvosWe had the most fabulous week of birding with Wingspan hosted by Bob Buckler and Dancho. Our first trip with the organisation and def not the last. Dancho was just brilliant his ability to hear and see species where mere mortals would be struggling for their Collins book of birds. He made the trip so enjoyable and had time for all on the 13 person trip. He shared his knowledge and skills freely and personally gave me some great photography advice to improve my pics. A charming man too and so knowledgable I highly recommend him if you are lucky enough to have him as your tour leader / guide. Thanks DanchoLoad more
