Today was a day off but i still woke up at 8 a.m. It was a gorgeous morning so i made myself a cup of coffee and sat out on the veranda to enjoy it. Unforgettable moment. Norwegians do know how to make their houses cosy. In the mean time i recorded from the veranda a Pied flycatcher and a White tailed Eagle.
I spend the whole day indoors reading, planning and relaxing. Fantastic day at a great place.
Bird survey in Norway : day 16, 19.06.2015
On the next morning it was time to get up early again. This time i had to get up a 2 a.m. because the route was about an hour away from the road. Anyway it wasn’t a problem. There was a good track which i knew so i managed to take the distance fairly quickly. The weather wasn’t as good as it was yesterday and some rain fell over the highest parts of the mountain. Nevertheless i had quite a few Willow Grouses and Ptarmigans which were more than last year or at least now they were more active. In opposed to last year there wasn’t a single Golden Plover and last year there were over 10 pairs. Really strange. Certainly something to think about.
I managed to do the route by 8 o’clock so by 9 i was drinking coffee on the veranda. All in all great morning.
Packed my staff and went back to the mainland via the ferry. It was time for some supplies before i carried on to the next route so grabbed some fruit and vegetables from a local store and hit the road. Not for too long though. The next place is only about a hundred km away. It should be an easy pace to survey but let us see that tomorrow.
I found a nice meadow to put ny tent but the midnight sun kept me awake for some time regardless of the early start.
