The alarm rang at 3 a.m. as usual. I packed quickly and headed to the route. It was going to be a long walk today. The route goes around some huge areas and instead of 6km it would be 10 km and then… back the same way.

I arrived at the first point on time to start the route. Gradually started building a pretty extensive bird list with a few really good ones : Gannet, Ring Ouzel, Ptarmigan, Rock Pipit, Twite, zilllions if Willow Warblers and the top bird for today would be an Arctic Redpoll. This was really smart bird. It’s been some time zince i last saw one of these guys. Great little bird. By the end of the route a Ptarmigan posed for close pictures for a long time. Never seen one this close. I have been thinking of going to Svalbard for this experience and here it is. Superb bird.

Once i finished with the route had to go back the same way which looked rather long but managed to take it for 2 hours.

I spend the rest of the day relaxing and catching up with staff. What a great day. The weather stayed just as needed and the morning walk at 3 a.m. at the midnight sun was superb.
